Privacy Policy — Sunset Beach Surf Cam

Sunset Beach Surf Cam (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates the Sunset Beach Surf Cam mobile app (the “App”) and the website at sunsetbeachflsurfcam.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to both the App and the Site.

Information We Collect
App usage data (anonymous)
The App automatically collects limited, non-identifying usage data to help us understand how the App is used and to keep it running smoothly:
- Device ID — a random identifier generated the first time you open the App and stored only on your device. It is not the same as your Apple ID, Google account, or advertising ID (IDFA/AAID), and it resets if you delete and reinstall the App.
- Session ID — a temporary identifier that rotates after periods of inactivity.
- Event data — which screens and features you use (for example, viewing the live cam, opening the forecast, tapping the subscribe button), along with the timestamp and app platform (iOS/Android).
This data is not linked to your name, email address, or any other information that identifies you personally, and we do not use it for cross-app or cross-site advertising tracking.
Push notifications
If you enable push notifications, your device’s push token is sent to Apple’s or Google’s notification service (via Expo’s push notification service) so we can deliver alerts you’ve opted into (surf alerts, swell updates, etc.). This token is not linked to a user profile on our end, and you can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or in the App’s notification preferences.
Subscription and purchase information
Premium access ($2.99/month) is sold and processed entirely through Apple’s App Store (In-App Purchase) or Google Play Billing — we never see or store your payment card details. We use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, to verify your entitlement (i.e., confirm you’re subscribed) so the App can unlock premium features. Apple/Google are the merchant of record for all billing, refunds, and subscription management.
What we do not collect through the App
We do not require account creation, and the App does not collect your name, email address, physical location, contacts, photos, health data, or any other personal information. There is no sign-in or login screen.
Website contact form (sunsetbeachflsurfcam.com)
If you submit the contact form on our website, the information you provide (such as your name and email address) is collected and stored via Mailchimp, our email service provider, so we can respond to you and, if you opt in, send occasional updates about Sunset Beach Surf Cam. We do not sell or rent this information to third parties. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the App and Site
- Understand which features are used most, to guide future development
- Deliver push notifications you’ve opted into
- Verify and manage premium subscriptions
- Respond to inquiries submitted through our contact form
- Send occasional updates to subscribers who’ve opted in (website contact form only)
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following service providers, each of which processes limited data on our behalf under their own privacy policies:

Data Retention
Anonymous usage data is retained only as long as needed to support the analytics purposes described above. Contact form submissions and email subscriber information are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
Your Choices
- Push notifications: disable anytime in your device Settings or in the App’s Alerts preferences.
- Email communications: unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email, or by contacting us.
- Data deletion requests: contact us at sunsetbeachflsurfcam@gmail.com and we will delete any information we hold that’s associated with you (such as your contact form submission or email subscription).
Children’s Privacy
Sunset Beach Surf Cam is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to request access to, or deletion of, personal information we hold about you, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the App or Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
